AARP TaxAide

AARP Foundation-trained volunteers will be available on a first-come-first-serve basis to prepare & submit personal income taxes for you or answer your tax-related questions. Free and open to the public (anyone with a W-2, no age restrictions or membership in AARP required).

A sign-up sheet will be available in the lobby on the day of service. AARP will be limiting the number of available time slots according to the availability of trained volunteers on individual days. During the month of February, only one return per taxpayer will be allowed.

For each return to be prepared, the taxpayer must pick up an Intake Booklet at the Sandpoint Library Information Desk before appointment or on the day of preparation. The intake booklet must be filled in before preparation of the return.

Please bring the following documents:
1. All tax documents for this tax year
2. Photo ID and Social Security card for all persons on the return
3. 2022 tax return, if possible

Days/Hours of Operation at the Sandpoint Library:
Mondays* and Wednesdays, 9 AM – 3 PM, February 5th through April 10, 2024
Appointments are not available and returns will not be started after 3:00 PM.

AARP Foundation Tax-Aide is the nation’s largest free filing program, and it’s aimed at taxpayers who are 50 or older. It’s available across the country and staffed by volunteers who are trained and certified by the Internal Revenue Service. However, there are no age restrictions or AARP membership required to have your tax return prepared at the Library.
