The teens (and some adults) in our community may have noticed something spectacular in the Library lately. The Young Adult fiction section in Sandpoint has tripled its shelf space, thanks to Your Library Transformation!
There is just one problem. Our sizeable YA collection – which was once crowded on too few shelves before and smashed even tighter during construction – now looks pathetically small spread across so many shelves. There is only one solution . . . buy more books! And that’s exactly what I’ve done with the help of Children’s Librarian Suzanne, catalogers, purchasing and processing staff, and volunteers.

STOCKING UP THE STACKS
In total, over 400 new Young Adult titles will be added to our collection over the next few weeks, and more will follow throughout the summer. Fiction makes up the bulk of the new acquisitions, including new graphic novels and manga. You can also expect some new Young Adult non-fiction, as well, including the story of the Brooklyn Bridge and a survival guide for job interviews.
With hundreds of new books to choose from, it’s difficult to narrow down a list to recommend. Below is a small sample of the new books I’m personally excited about, in no particular order. Be sure to check the new shelves often this summer to see what’s available. Don’t forget to track your books and write reviews for Teen Summer Reading!
