Growing Great Garlic

Join Ben Ronniger from Allicins Ranch at the Library garden for an enlightening session on everything garlic. Learn how and when to plant garlic, what types of fertilizer to use to maximize your harvest, and how to plan for the best harvest. Get your hands dirty as we plant one of the Library Garden beds with garlic too. We’ll talk about the different uses of garlic and various ways to use garlic.

Can you tell the difference between heirloom varieties and storebought? Find out with a blind taste! This interactive workshop promises engaging insights suitable for participants of all ages. Everyone will even go home with their own head of heirloom garlic!

About the presenter:
Ben Ronniger started his education at the University of Kentucky in soil science and natural resource conservation. After graduating, he moved to Northern Idaho to learn from his uncle David Ronniger, a pioneer in organic food. Since founding Allicins Ranch in 2010, it has become a leading garlic seed internet company. Ben has cultivated over 100 garlic varieties, introduced many from abroad, and contributed to numerous magazines, including Saveur. He and his wife Claire, along with their child Isabelle, run the farm, producing garlic products and growing other crops. Ben enjoys napping, though he hasn’t managed to for over 44 years.
