Kids’ Items
Everything you need to know about kids’ items out at the Library.
What kind of items can I check out?
You can have 20 items on your library card at any time. Each family member can have their own card.
Please note the following item type limits:
- 20 Books
- 10 DVDs
- 8 Spoken Word
- 8 Music CDs
- 8 Playaways
- 8 Magazines
- 2 Video games
- 1 STEM kit
- 1 Literacy kit
- 1 Wonderbook
How long can I keep them?
DVD’s, video games, tablets (Launchpads) and kits check out for 2 weeks.
Everything else checks out for 3 weeks!
Renewals
All kids’ items (except kits) automatically renew up to 3 times if no one is waiting!
DVDs and video games renew for 1 week. Kits cannot be renewed.
Everything else renews for 3 weeks!
Fines and Fees
We are an (almost) fine free library! No fees will be applied for any kids’ items. Any overdue items will prevent you from borrowing digital content and items more than 7 days overdue will prevent you from checking out materials and using library computers.
Lost and Damaged Materials
Replacement fees for lost or damaged items still apply.
Place a Hold
Did you know that you can put up to 10 items on hold so you can be next in line?
Log in to your Library Account, search for the item you want and click “Place a Hold.” You’ll be notified by email or text when your items are ready for pick-up. You have 7 days to pick up your hold(s).
Activity Kits & AV for Kids
Special kids’ items and kits are available for you to take home and explore.
You can check out 1 each per family unless otherwise noted.
They check out for 2 weeks and cannot be renewed!
Audiovisual
Find new ways to read and learn using our AV items especially for kids.
Launchpads
Launchpads are pre-loaded tablets with content for kids designed with a simple, easy-to-use interface, and 100% secure. No download time. No need for Wi-Fi. Access to fun and educational games is simple as turning on the device — anytime, anywhere.

Playaways
Playaways are small MP3 players with pre-loaded audiobooks that offers the portability and freedom to listen to audiobooks anytime, anywhere. No other device, technology, or WiFi connection needed.

Wonderbooks
Audio + Print – bound together for literacy and fun!
Every Wonderbook is a print book with a ready-to-play audiobook inside. Kids will press play to read along and then switch to learning mode for an immersive experience.

Literacy Kits
Literacy Kits are backpacks full of books, a whiteboard with markers and activities to learn about each topic.
Here are just a few:
