CLARK FORK KIDS' SUMMER READING PROGRAM

JUNE 5 – AUGUST 2

Build a better world button

The most important part of a summer reading program is READING. When children fail to read for three months, it can take until the end of November to regain the reading skills they had at the end of the previous school year. When, however, children read as few as six books over the summer, they maintain the skills that they have spent the past school year developing and honing. We have lots of fun prizes to encourage your children to READ this summer.

PRESCHOOL & TODDLER SUMMER READING

Pick up a summer reading log for your preschooler beginning June 5th.

Read and do early literacy activities so that your child can earn prizes. Logs are due by August 2nd

You can also print up a log here. The log is double-sided and printed on legal sized paper.

ELEMENTARY SCHOOL KIDS SUMMER READING

SIGN UP TO READ AND EARN PRIZES

Pick up a reading game board at the Information Desk and start reading. When you complete the game board (that’s 10 hours of reading!), come into the library to pick up your prize and enter your ticket into the monthly prize drawing. Be sure to pick up (or print) another game board and keep reading!

PRIZES

1st Game Board (10 hours): free book
2nd Board (20 hours): swimming pass at SWAC
3rd Board (30 hours): water bottle
4th Board (40 hours): summer reading t-shirt
Additional Game Boards: free books

A prize drawing will be held at the End of Summer Reading Tie Dye Party on August 2nd at 2 PM.

There is no minimum expectation of the number of books a child should read; however, research has shown that children who read at least 6-8 books at their reading level, maintain their reading skills over the summer.

Build a Better World Challenge

BUILD A BETTER WORLD CHALLENGE ACTIVITY

Pick up or print a Build a Better World Challenge sheet at the Information Desk and complete the four "assignments".

When you complete the challenge, fill out the ticket and hand it in by August 2nd before the Tie Dye Party where we will draw one lucky winner.

Share a picture of you doing one (or all) of the assignments to our Facebook page. Sharing is optional but we'd love to see your accomplishments and share them with the community.
